This tutorial shows you how to get a wallet and install the appropriate software, namely Bitminter for bitcoin mining and Cgminer (I have noticed the 3.8 version doesn't work well with scrypt, but unsure if it has been completely unsupported, I just use 3.7.2) for litecoin mining.
